Rule 29.2 Joint Custody Implementation Plans

When parents share joint custody of their children, some Louisiana courts require them to file a written plan explaining how the custody arrangement will actually work. This is called a joint custody implementation plan. It spells out details like where the children will live, how holidays and school breaks will be handled, and how parents will make decisions together.

Not every court requires this plan. Whether you need to submit one depends on which court is handling your case. Appendix 23.0A lists which courts require this plan, and sample plans are provided in Appendices 29.2A and 29.2B so parents can see what information needs to be included.

If your court requires this plan, you will need to fill it out and file it with the court as part of your custody case. Checking the appendix for your specific court is the best way to know if this step applies to you.
