Rule 30.1 Court-Appointed Special Masters and Experts

Some courts can bring in outside help to handle certain parts of a case. This might include a special master, who acts like a helper judge for specific tasks, or an expert who has knowledge the court needs on a technical or complicated subject.

Not every court uses this option. If a court does allow it, that court will have its own specific rules explaining how it works. You can find those detailed rules listed in Appendix 30.1.
