Rule 48.2 Fines, Fees, and Costs

Traffic courts can set up a standard list of fines, fees, and costs for traffic violations. This gives judges a clear guide to follow instead of deciding penalties from scratch each time.

This list must match up with local city or parish laws and state laws. It cannot conflict with them. Courts can use these standard fines and fees as the only penalty, or they can add them on top of other penalties.

This rule specifically applies to young people, or juveniles, who get traffic tickets. It gives courts a consistent way to handle these cases while still following all the other laws that apply.
