Rule 9.7 Signing of the Pleadings

Every document filed with the court must have a signature. If a lawyer files it, the lawyer signs it. If someone is representing themselves without a lawyer, they sign it themselves.

Below the signature, the person filing needs to include their contact information. This means a mailing address, street address, phone number, and email address if they have one. Lawyers also need to list their Louisiana Bar Identification Number.

This rule makes sure the court and other people involved in the case know who filed each document and how to reach that person. It keeps things organized and helps avoid confusion about who is responsible for what gets filed.
