Rule 3.001 Applicability and Scope

These rules cover civil cases in Michigan circuit courts, which are the main trial courts in the state. They can also apply in other courts when the law says so.

If there is nothing in this chapter that says otherwise, the general Michigan Court Rules apply to these cases. Think of it as a set of default rules that fill in any gaps.
