Rule 3.924 Information Furnished on Request by Court

When a court asks someone to provide information for a case involving a child or family matter, that person or agency is protected from being sued later for sharing that information. This applies even if the information would normally be kept private or confidential.

For example, a doctor, school, or social worker who gives records or testimony because the court asked for them does not have to worry about being taken to court over sharing that information. The protection only applies when the court specifically requested the information after a petition was approved to move the case forward.
