Rule 5.112 Prior Proceedings Affecting the Person of a Minor

If a child is already under the watch of one court, and a new case involving that child is filed in a different court, specific rules apply. Those rules are found in MCR 3.205.

When someone files a petition in the new case, they must include information about the earlier court case. This means the new court needs to know that another court has already been involved with the child.
