Rule 6.403 Trial by the Judge in Waiver Cases

If you give up your right to a jury trial, a judge will decide your case instead. The judge listens to all the evidence and makes the final decision alone.

After the trial, the judge must explain two things separately: what facts they found to be true, and what laws they applied to those facts. The judge must write this down or say it out loud on the record in court. This way, everyone can see exactly how the judge reached their decision.
