Rule 1.07 Signing of Bonds by Officer of Court

Court employees are not allowed to sign bonds for court cases. This means judges, clerks, and other people who work for the court cannot act as a guarantor or co-signer on any type of bond connected to a case in that court.

The reason behind this is simple: it keeps things fair. If a court officer could sign bonds, it might look like they are taking sides or getting personally involved in the outcome of a case. Keeping court staff out of the bond process helps make sure everyone is treated equally and that there is no question about the court's fairness.

For anyone involved in a case that requires a bond, this means you will need to find someone outside the court system to sign it. You cannot ask a judge, clerk, or other court official to serve this role, no matter how well you know them.
