If you have a case in a certain court, you should check with the court clerk to learn how that court likes to handle things day to day. Every courthouse can have its own habits and preferences for scheduling, paperwork, or other routine matters, so it helps to ask ahead of time instead of guessing.

That said, courts cannot make up their own official rules on their own. Any local rule that a court wants to put in place has to be approved by the Mississippi Supreme Court first. This keeps court procedures consistent across the state, even though clerks can still explain the small, practical details of how their particular courtroom runs.
