Rule 5.06 Briefs on Appeals on the Record

When you file a brief for an appeal that's based on the trial record, you need to follow the same rules that apply in the Supreme Court. This covers things like how the brief should be formatted, when it's due, and how you serve it on the other side.

There's one difference, though. Instead of filing multiple copies like you might in the Supreme Court, you only need to file one original and one copy of your brief.

If you miss the deadline to file your brief, you'll face the same penalties you would in the Supreme Court. Courts take these deadlines seriously, so it's worth making sure you get your brief in on time and in the right format.
