Rule 66 Receivers

When a court appoints a receiver to take over property or a business during a lawsuit, that lawsuit cannot just be dropped or dismissed on its own. A judge has to approve the dismissal first. This protects the receiver's work and makes sure someone is looking out for the property or assets while the case is still active.

Other than that one rule about dismissal, cases involving receivers follow the same rules as any other civil lawsuit. This applies whether someone is asking the court to appoint a receiver in the first place, or whether the receiver is suing someone or being sued as part of their duties. So the normal steps for filing papers, gathering evidence, and arguing the case still apply. The only special protection is that the court must sign off before the case can end.
