Rule XVII Costs and Expenses

If a court reporter faces a disciplinary case, the Board has the power to make that person pay for the costs of investigating and holding a hearing. The Board decides how much to charge based on what seems fair given the situation.

These costs cover the real expenses the Board had to pay to handle the case. This means things like the actual money spent on the investigation and hearing process, not made-up or inflated charges. The goal is to let the Board recover its reasonable expenses when it has to look into a complaint against a court reporter.
