Rule 29.2 Record

When someone appeals a case from a lower court to circuit court, there's a process for getting the case file moved to the new court. First, the person appealing has to follow two other rules (29.3(a) and 29.4(a)) that likely involve filing the right paperwork and paying any required fees. Once that happens, the circuit clerk's office tells both the lower court and the prosecutor that the appeal is happening.

After the lower court gets this notice, it has 10 days to send over everything related to the case. This means the judge or clerk from the lower court has to prepare a certified copy of the full record, plus all the original documents, and deliver them to the circuit court clerk. This makes sure the circuit court has everything it needs to handle the appeal without delay.
