Rule 24 Post-Judgment Actions

After a judge makes a final decision in your case, you have to wait before taking further legal action based on that judgment. Specifically, you must wait at least 10 days after the judgment is officially entered before starting any post-judgment action, like trying to collect money owed or enforce the court's decision.

This waiting period exists unless a specific law says otherwise. It gives both sides a short window of time after the judgment before anyone can move forward with actions like garnishments, liens, or other steps to enforce what the court decided.

For anyone who just won a case, this means you can't immediately start collecting or enforcing the judgment. You need to let those 10 days pass first, unless another law specifically allows you to act sooner.
