Rule V Mediation

Mediation is a process where a neutral person, called a mediator, helps people involved in a lawsuit talk things out. The mediator's job is to help both sides communicate better so they can work toward a settlement or at least understand each other's point of view. Think of the mediator as a helpful guide, not a judge.

This means the mediator cannot tell you what they think the right answer is or push their own opinion about who is right or wrong. They are there to help you and the other side talk and negotiate, not to decide the case for you. Any agreement that comes out of mediation has to come from the parties themselves, not from the mediator's personal views.

If you go through mediation, you can expect the mediator to stay neutral the whole time. They will help keep the conversation productive, but the final decisions and any settlement terms are up to you and the other party involved in the case.
