Rule 10.17 Run-Off Election - Time for Holding

Here's a plain English summary of this rule.

If an election under Rule 10 ends up needing a run-off, that run-off happens automatically. No one has to schedule it or call for it. It takes place exactly five weeks after the original election date.

There's one exception to this timing. If that five-week date lands on a legal holiday, the run-off moves to the next available day. That next day can't be a Saturday, Sunday, or another holiday. So it will always land on a regular business day.

This rule basically removes the guesswork from scheduling a run-off election. Everyone involved already knows the date ahead of time, since it's fixed at five weeks out, unless the holiday exception kicks in.
