Rule 10.54 Administration

This rule explains how the committee is run and who leads it. The committee has a chair whose job is to lead meetings and keep the group's work organized. The first chair is picked by the Missouri Supreme Court, but after that, the committee members choose their own chair when a new one is needed.

The chair is a regular voting member too, so they don't lose their vote just because they lead the group. Nobody on the committee gets paid for their work, including the chair. However, they can get reimbursed for expenses they have to pay while doing committee business, and the Missouri Bar's board of governors decides how that reimbursement works.

Finally, the rule sets a rule for how many members need to be present to make decisions. More than half of the committee members must be present for the group to officially conduct business or vote on anything. This is called a quorum, and it makes sure decisions aren't made unless enough people are involved.
