Rule 14.05 Eligibility for Certification

If you want to become a certified court reporter in Missouri, you need to meet a few basic requirements. You must be at least 18 years old and have good moral character. You also need to pass the Missouri court reporter exam, unless you qualify to skip it under a different rule.

There are two ways to get around taking the exam. Rule 14.06 and Rule 14.07 both allow certain applicants to be admitted without testing, likely because they already hold qualifications or certifications from elsewhere. If you meet the age and character requirements and satisfy one of these paths (passing the exam or qualifying under one of these other rules), the state will issue you a certified court reporter certificate.
