Rule 30.006 Service of Filings in Appellate Courts

When you file documents with the Missouri Supreme Court or the Court of Appeals in a criminal case, you must deliver copies to the other parties in the case. The rule for how you do this is spelled out in Rule 84.026, and it applies the same way here as it does in civil appeals.

In practice, this means you cannot just file your paperwork with the court and stop there. You also have to make sure the other side gets a copy, using whatever method Rule 84.026 allows, such as mail, hand delivery, or electronic filing systems the courts use. This keeps everyone in the case informed and gives both sides a fair chance to respond to what has been filed.
