Rule 37.36 Information - Joinder of Violations

If someone breaks several ordinances at the same time or in a way that's connected, the city can charge all of those violations together in one document, called an information. Each violation gets listed as its own separate count within that single filing.

This applies when the violations are alike in nature, come from the same action, happen as part of one event, or are linked together as part of a bigger plan. For example, if someone's actions during one incident break three different city ordinances, all three can be charged together in one case instead of filing three separate cases.

This rule makes the court process simpler. Instead of dealing with multiple separate filings for related violations, everything connected to the incident can be handled in one case with multiple counts.
