Rule 8 [Untitled]

After a trial ends, whether it's decided by a jury or by a judge alone, the alternate trial judge has 10 days to prepare a proposed judgment. This document gets sent to the district court judge who is officially assigned to the case.

The parties involved in the case must also be given written notice about this proposed judgment. This means both sides will know what the alternate judge is recommending before the case moves forward, giving everyone a chance to see the outcome in writing.
