Rule 19 Other Programs

Once the mediator confirms that the lender's representative has the right paperwork and the authority to make decisions, the mediator will talk with both sides about other help that might be available. This includes programs like HAMP, Hardest Hit Funds, or Attorney General Settlement Programs, along with any other program that exists at the time of the mediation.

The mediator's job here is to check if the homeowner qualifies for any of these programs. If the homeowner meets the requirements for a program, that option should be discussed during the mediation session, not ignored.

This rule makes sure homeowners get information about all the help available to them, not just the options the lender brings up. It gives homeowners a better chance to find a solution that fits their situation, whether that means loan changes, payment help, or other support programs.
