If you lose a case and the court orders you to pay money, you need to pay right away. The judge can also set up a specific schedule or specific terms for how and when you make the payment, instead of requiring it all at once.
This gives the judge flexibility to work with your situation. For example, the judge might allow you to pay in installments over time rather than in one lump sum, depending on what seems fair and workable. But unless the judge sets other terms, the expectation is that you pay as soon as possible.
If you're on the receiving end of a judgment (meaning someone owes you money), this rule means the other side is required to pay according to whatever the judge decides, whether that's immediately or through a payment plan the judge approves.
