This rule gives a sample template for a subpoena used in bar admission cases. A subpoena is a legal document that orders someone to show up and testify, usually at a hearing or deposition connected to the board of bar examiners.
The template covers the basic information a subpoena needs. This includes the name of the person being called as a witness, the date, time, and location where they must appear, and what case the subpoena relates to. If the board also needs the witness to bring documents or other physical evidence, the subpoena can be written to include that request too.
The rule also spells out what happens if someone ignores a subpoena. If a person does not show up, or fails to bring items they were told to bring, they can be held in contempt of the Nevada Supreme Court. Contempt is a serious legal problem that can lead to fines or other penalties, so anyone who receives a subpoena under this rule needs to take it seriously and follow its instructions.
