Rule 2:12A-7 Disposition

When the New Jersey Supreme Court finishes reviewing a case, it will issue either a written opinion or an order. A written opinion explains the court's reasoning and decision in detail. An order is a shorter, more direct statement of what the court has decided.

The type of response the court uses depends on what fits the situation best. Not every case requires a long written explanation.
