Rule 4:26-7 Public Officers

When a government official is part of a lawsuit because of their job role, they can be identified by their title alone. For example, a case could name "The Commissioner of Health" instead of listing the person's actual name.

This matters because people in these positions change over time. If the official named in a lawsuit leaves the job, the case can continue with whoever holds that title next, without needing to refile paperwork or start over.
