Rule 4:42-7 Damages in Continuing Cause

When you sue someone for something that keeps causing harm over time, like an ongoing nuisance or a continuing trespass, the court will calculate your damages all the way up to the date of trial. You do not have to file multiple lawsuits to recover for harm that keeps happening.

This means the jury or judge will look at the full picture of your losses, from when the problem started through the day your case is heard. You get one chance to recover for everything that has happened so far.
