Rule 4:45-1 Warrant of Attorney

If someone owes you money and signed a document giving you permission to get a court judgment against them without a lawsuit, that permission cannot be hidden inside a larger document like a bond or loan agreement.

The permission to confess judgment must stand on its own, separate from any other contract or payment agreement. You cannot bury it in the fine print of another document and then use it to get a court judgment.
