Rule 4:96-4 Notice to Surety

If someone takes a fiduciary to court over how they handled their duties, the surety must be notified. A fiduciary is someone who manages money or property for another person, like an executor of an estate or a guardian. A surety is the company or person who backed the fiduciary's bond, which is a kind of insurance that protects against wrongdoing.

The surety gets notified the same way any other interested party in the case would be notified. This makes sense because the surety may have to pay out on the bond if the fiduciary is found to have done something wrong.
