Rule 1:21-4 Attorneys for Consuls of Any Government Not Recognized

Lawyers who represent consular officials from governments that the United States does not officially recognize cannot appear in New Jersey courts on behalf of those consuls. They also cannot collect money or assets from an estate or any other fund in that role.

This rule limits what those attorneys can do specifically because of who they represent. If the U.S. government does not recognize a foreign government, its consular officers do not get the same legal standing in New Jersey courts that recognized governments receive.
