Rule 1:34-7 Interpreters, Transliterators, and Translators

When someone in a court case needs help communicating, such as a person who speaks another language or someone who is deaf, the court can appoint a professional to help. This could be an interpreter (who converts spoken language), a transliterator (who converts between forms of the same language, like spoken English to sign language), or a translator (who converts written language).

The Chief Justice sets the rules for how these professionals are chosen and how they do their job. They can be removed from their role at any time by whoever appointed them.
