Rule 1:4-3 Adoption by Reference; Exhibits

When you file court papers, you do not have to repeat yourself. If you already wrote something in one part of your filing, you can simply refer back to it in another part instead of writing it all over again. This also works across different court documents, so something you wrote in one filing can be referenced in another.

Any documents you attach to your court papers become part of those papers. There is one exception though. If you are filing a foreclosure case involving a mortgage or tax sale certificate, you do not attach copies of the bonds, mortgages, tax sale certificates, or assignments to your complaint.
