Rule 8:9-2 Costs

In most Tax Court cases in New Jersey, you cannot get your court costs paid back by the other side, even if you win. This is different from some other courts where the losing party pays certain fees.

In rare situations, a judge can order that out-of-pocket costs be covered, but only if you have a strong reason for asking. The court decides these cases one at a time based on the specific facts presented.
