§ 208.12 Videotape recording of depositions

When someone gives a deposition (sworn testimony taken outside of court), the recording can be done using video and audio at the same time, instead of just written transcription. This is allowed as long as it follows the rules already set out in section 202.15 of the state's court administration rules.

In practice, this means lawyers have the option to videotape witness testimony during the discovery process, as long as they follow the proper technical and procedural standards. This can be useful for preserving testimony, showing a witness's demeanor, or using the recording later in court instead of just reading a transcript.
