Rule 3.2 Delay of Litigation

Lawyers are not allowed to drag out a legal case just to waste time or run up costs. If a lawyer takes an action that has no real point except to slow things down or make the process more expensive for the other side, that's against the rules.

This doesn't mean lawyers can't ask for extensions or take time to prepare a strong case. Those things are normal and often necessary. The problem is when delay itself becomes the goal, like filing unnecessary paperwork, requesting extra time for no real reason, or dragging out proceedings just to wear down the other person or make them spend more money on legal fees.

This rule exists to keep the legal system fair and moving forward. Court cases already take time and money. When a lawyer adds delays on purpose, it hurts the other side and clogs up the courts for everyone else too.
