§ 215.2 Policy

New York courts want people to use recycled paper when they file documents. If you're submitting paperwork to a court in the state's Unified Court System, you should use recycled paper whenever you reasonably can.

Paper counts as recycled if at least 30 percent of it is made from waste paper. This means you don't need paper that's entirely recycled material, just paper that meets this minimum standard.

This is a policy encouraging environmentally friendly practices, not a strict requirement that could get your filing rejected. The phrase "where practicable" means courts understand that recycled paper isn't always available or possible to use in every situation.
