§ 2201 Accountability of legal life tenant or fiduciary, committee or conservator of legal life tenant

If someone has the right to use property or income for their lifetime (called a "legal life tenant"), they have the same legal duties and rights as a trustee named in a will. This means the same rules that apply to trustees also apply to life tenants when it comes to court proceedings.

This rule also covers what happens if the life tenant cannot manage their own affairs. If a guardian, committee, or conservator is appointed to handle things for the life tenant, that person steps into the same legal position. They can bring a case to court or have a case brought against them, just like a trustee's guardian or representative could.

In simple terms, this rule makes sure life tenants are treated the same way as trustees under the law. It closes any gap that might let a life tenant avoid responsibility just because they are not technically called a "trustee." The same accountability rules apply either way.
