§ 807 Bond of a legal life tenant

If someone inherits the right to use property for their lifetime (called a "life tenant"), but not to own it outright, the court can require them to post a bond before they take control of that property. This bond acts as protection for the people who will eventually get the property after the life tenant passes away or their rights end.

The bond makes sure the life tenant takes care of the property properly and doesn't damage its value. If the life tenant mismanages the property or does something that hurts the interests of the future owners, the bond can be used to cover the losses.

There's one exception to this rule. If the will itself clearly states that no bond is needed, then the court can't force the life tenant to get one. The person who wrote the will has the final say on this point, and their wishes come first if they addressed it directly in the will.
