Rule 6 Immunity

People who work on attorney discipline cases can't be sued for doing their jobs. This includes members of the disciplinary committee, staff, investigators, and the lawyers who prosecute these cases. As long as they are acting within their official duties under these rules, they are fully protected from civil lawsuits, no matter what they decide or how they handle a case.

This protection isn't limited to new cases. It covers cases that have already been decided, cases that are currently in progress, and cases that haven't even started being investigated yet. So if someone is unhappy with how their attorney discipline case was handled, they cannot sue the people who worked on it, whether that case happened years ago, is happening now, or will happen in the future.

This rule exists so that people running the attorney discipline system can do their jobs honestly and thoroughly, without worrying about being personally sued by lawyers who are unhappy with the outcome of their case.
