Rule 53 Regulations of Conduct in the Courtroom

Cameras and radio broadcasts are not allowed inside the courtroom while court is in session. This means no one can take pictures or broadcast the proceedings live over the radio while a hearing or trial is happening.

The idea behind this rule is to keep the courtroom focused on the case at hand. Cameras and live broadcasts can distract witnesses, jurors, and others involved in the case. They can also put pressure on people testifying, which might affect how honestly or comfortably they answer questions.

This rule applies during the actual proceedings, meaning whenever the judge is hearing the case, taking testimony, or otherwise conducting official court business. Anyone attending a trial or hearing should leave their camera behind or keep it turned off and put away while inside the courtroom.
