Rule 47 Court Rules

The Supreme Court can update its own rules whenever needed to keep the justice system running smoothly. This includes making changes to the rules themselves, adding helpful notes or explanations, updating forms, or fixing small mistakes like typos.

Sometimes a case comes up that isn't clearly covered by an existing law or rule. When this happens, the Court can decide how to handle it, as long as its decision doesn't conflict with Commonwealth law or other Court rules. However, the Court can't punish someone for failing to follow a rule that isn't actually written down in the law or official court rules, unless that person was clearly told about the requirement ahead of time in their specific case.

In short, this rule gives the Court flexibility to fill in gaps and make necessary updates, but it also protects people from being penalized for breaking rules they never knew existed.
