Rule 46 Exceptions Unnecessary

When you disagree with something that happens in court, you just need to speak up and tell the judge. You can do this by making an objection or filing a motion. Once the judge makes a ruling on your concern, your disagreement is already on the record.

You do not need to take any extra steps after the judge rules to protect your right to appeal. In older court systems, lawyers had to formally "except" to a ruling to preserve their rights. Ohio no longer requires this.
