When you have a traffic case that involves multiple charges or multiple people, the court follows the same rules used in regular criminal cases. These rules are found in Ohio Criminal Rules 8, 13, and 14.

Those criminal rules cover three main situations: when multiple charges against one person can be combined into one case, when separate cases can be joined together for one trial, and when someone can ask the court to separate charges or defendants if combining them would be unfair.
