If something happens to you in another state, but you want to file a lawsuit in Oklahoma, this rule tells you which deadline applies. Every state has its own time limit for filing different types of claims, known as a statute of limitations.
This rule says the court will look at both Oklahoma's deadline and the deadline from the state where the incident happened. Whichever deadline gives you more time to file, that's the one that applies to your case.
In simple terms, you get the benefit of the longer time limit. If Oklahoma's deadline is longer than the other state's deadline, you get Oklahoma's deadline. If the other state's deadline is longer, you get that one instead. This protects people from losing their right to sue just because they happened to be in a state with a shorter deadline when the incident occurred.
