§ 1147.2 Possible claim affecting undivided interest.

If a piece of property has some ownership shares that could be claimed by people who aren't born yet or don't legally exist yet, this rule says only that specific share can be sold in court. The other shares of the property, owned by people who are known and identified, stay untouched by the sale.

This matters when a property has mixed ownership. Say four people own a piece of land together, but one of those shares might belong to a future heir who hasn't been born yet. This rule allows the court to sell just that uncertain share while leaving the other three owners' shares completely alone. Their ownership rights aren't affected by the sale at all.

The point of this rule is to let courts handle tricky ownership situations without disrupting property rights that are already clear and settled. It keeps the sale limited to only the part of the property that actually needs to be resolved.
