§ 1347 Officers not liable for obeying orders.

If a sheriff or other officer follows a habeas corpus writ or a court's order to release someone, they cannot be sued for doing it. This protects officers who are just doing what the court told them to do.

The idea behind this rule is simple. Officers have to follow court orders. If someone later disagrees with the order or thinks it was wrong, they cannot blame the officer or take legal action against that person. The officer was only carrying out what a judge decided, so the responsibility for that decision stays with the court, not the officer.

This rule protects law enforcement from getting caught in the middle of legal disputes they didn't create. It lets them do their jobs, releasing someone when a judge orders it, without worrying about being personally sued for following instructions.
