If you're involved in a lawsuit, either as a party or as someone's attorney, you generally can't be appointed as the receiver in that same case. A receiver is someone the court puts in charge of property or money that's in dispute, and the law wants that person to be neutral. Since you have a stake in the outcome, letting you serve as receiver could create a conflict of interest.

There's one exception to this rule. If everyone involved in the case agrees to it, a party, attorney, or other interested person can still be appointed as receiver. So the rule isn't absolute, it just requires everyone's consent before someone with a personal stake in the case can take on that role.
