Here's what this rule means in practice.
If you sue someone to get property back (like a car or equipment) and the court already gave you that property while the case was going on, you still need to finish your lawsuit. This rule covers what happens if you drop the ball. Maybe the court ruled against you on a legal technicality, or maybe you just never followed through and got a final judgment.
When that happens, the person you sued (the defendant) can ask the court to step in. The court will then look into who actually owns the property and who has the right to possess it. This protects the defendant from losing their property just because you got a temporary order early in the case, then failed to see the lawsuit through to the end.
In short, this rule stops people from using a lawsuit to grab property and then walking away without finishing the case. If you do that, the court will still sort out who the property really belongs to.
