§ 1754 Preparation of affidavit - Copies.

When someone wants to file a small claim, they need to fill out an affidavit (a sworn written statement) explaining their claim. The person filing the claim can write this affidavit themselves, or they can ask the court clerk to help prepare it for them.

The affidavit can be turned in two ways. The claimant can bring it to the courthouse in person, or they can mail it to the clerk. Once the clerk receives the affidavit and confirms it was properly sworn to (meaning the person signed it truthfully under oath), the clerk files the original with the court.

The clerk then makes an official copy of the affidavit. On this copy, there's a court order with blank spaces that need to be filled in. The clerk completes these blanks with the right information and signs the order, which helps move the case forward.
